The Grammys Knew What They Were Doing Cutting to Taylor Swift When Harry Styles Won
We've come a long way, baby. Taylor Swift was seen applauding Harry Styles following his win at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Feb. 5 in Los Angeles. Later that evening, the exes were spotted catching up in the audience. The pop stars famously dated back in 2012, and though their relationship lasted less than a year, the split inspired many songs, including Swift's "Out of the Woods," and "Two Ghosts" from Styles. The mature moment happened early on in the show. "Harry's House" was announced by Jennifer Lopez as the winner of the best pop vocal album category, and as Styles made his way to the stage, the Grammys rather strategically cut to Swift, who was smiling and clapping. (We see you, shady camera operator.) Throughout the night, Swift and Styles were also spotted hugging and chatting during Steve Lacy's performance of "Bad Habit" after Swift approached the table Styles was seated at. Later, when Styles snagged album of the year, Swift was standing during his acceptance speech. Despite the dramatic end to their young love, Swift and Styles have been quite cordial in recent years. In a 2020 interview on "The Howard Stern Show," Styles said he found it "flattering" that Swift had released songs about him in the past. "You still spent time on it and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she's a great songwriter," he said. "So at least they're good songs." The following year, the two were seen chatting in between categories at the 2021 Grammys. It was a big night for both artists. Swift, who wore a midnight-blue Roberto Cavalli outfit, was nominated in four categories, and her "All Too Well: The Short Film" took home the award for best music video before the televised show began. Styles, meanwhile, received six nominations. He arrived in a colorful Egonlab jumpsuit but changed into a suit before accepting his awards.
