Taytay, Philippines Recognized Among Outstanding Stakeholders at National Statistics Authority
Rizal Province, Philippines – September 26, 2023
The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Taytay, located in Rizal Province just east of Metro Manila, was recently honored as one of the Outstanding Stakeholders by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Rizal during the agency’s 10th Anniversary Celebration.
This recognition highlights the municipality’s active role in supporting critical statistical programs and nationwide surveys that contribute to evidence-based policy and inclusive development in the Philippines.
Representing the municipality was Ms. Cristina “Chin” Gonzales, head of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO), along with Atty. King Defante, Section Head of LEDIPO. The award was received on behalf of Mayor Allan De Leon, who has prioritized data-driven local governance and economic planning during his administration.
“We are deeply honored to receive this recognition from the PSA,” said Ms. Cristina "Chin" Gonzales. “It reflects our strong belief in the power of reliable data for driving sustainable development, improving public services, and shaping a better future for our constituents.”
The celebration brought together a wide network of partners and stakeholders across public and private sectors—including key representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
Among the notable attendees and honorees were:
-
Lionel L. Dalope, CESO V, Provincial Director, DILG Rizal
-
Cleo Marco Duran, Provincial Director, DTI Rizal
-
Elmer Espiritu, President, PCCI Taytay
-
Gladdie Mallari, Representative, PCCI Rizal
The PSA, established in 2013 through the Philippine Statistical Act, serves as the central statistical authority in the country, responsible for collecting, compiling, and disseminating official statistics crucial for national development and policy formulation.
This year’s anniversary theme underscored collaboration, innovation, and trust in data as pillars of progress in both local and national governance.
Taytay LGU’s continued partnership with the PSA reflects its alignment with global standards in governance, transparency, and economic development, echoing broader international goals such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in areas like institutional capacity building, inclusive growth, and quality public service delivery.
