Just over a month before the 2024 presidential election, the Special Council overseeing Donald Trump's election interference trial revealed a sweeping 165-page motion alleging the former US president is not entitled to presidential immunity for his role in attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 elections, saying his "scheme was fundamentally a private one."
