BOOM: Texas Gov. Abbott Torches Dems, Sends Scathing Letter To Critical DC and NYC Mayors
Adams and Bowser are trying to spin an administrative situation into a political one. Politics is the process by which one attains power, but once such control is achieved, those officials must govern effectively. Both Adams and Bowser may have succeeded initially with their politicking and bamboozling of naïve voters to get them into office, but when it comes to actually running a government they’re failing miserably.
The concept is fundamental, and one that should be easy to understand: When a nation’s borders are not secure, the entire country’s security is at risk, regardless of one’s proximity to the border itself. If visitors who are intent on causing harm enter our country through Logan Airport, it’s not just Bostonians who are in danger; Chicagoans can be equally affected. And if human traffickers, drug smugglers, and terrorists cross our southern border into Texas, it’s not just the Texans who have a problem.
Once illegal, criminally minded immigrants enter our country – or, for that matter, even if they’re law-abiding illegal immigrants – it doesn’t matter from where they came. If they’re here, it’s the entire country’s problem. We are, after all, the “United” States of America.
So, when the ongoing and worsening crisis at our southern border reached critical mass in April yet continued to be ignored by blue state elites in Washington D.C. and New York City, Texas Governor Greg Abbott, and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey decided to enlighten the ignorant. Ducey and Abbott began sending migrants on one-way bus rides northward to the two cities.
In less than four months, their strategy has clearly succeeded. New York Mayor Eric Adams has been whining about the impact of 3,000 illegal immigrants having arrived, and curiously called Ducey and Abbott “cowards.” As if only the courageous accept illegal immigrants with open arms. And D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has been equally vocal in badmouthing the two Republican governors and has even requested the National Guard to help her city deal with the wave.
The complaining from Adams and Bowser has been building for a couple of weeks, but Abbott and Ducey have stayed mostly quiet. Until now. In a letter sent yesterday to both Bowser and Adams, Governor Abbott sets the record straight:
“[O]ur nation’s southern border has become both a humanitarian and security crisis. This crisis was created by President Biden and is one that requires immediate and decisive action to be stopped. As Governor of a southern border state, I have watched illegal crossings hit record highs over and over again since President Biden took office. In the absence of federal action, I have deployed unprecedented resources to prevent, deter, and interdict illegal immigration and transnational criminal activity that threatens our citizens. Texas has spent over $3 billion in the past 18 months to curtail the devastation felt by our communities large and small.”
That’s a good start, establishing the root cause of the problem. But Abbott wasn’t done:
“As law enforcement agents along the Texas-Mexico border respond to thousands of illegal crossings each and every day, putting their lives on the line for Texans and for all Americans, the crisis demands the attention of not only the Biden Administration, which is responsible for securing the border, but of leaders across the country. Unfortunately, President Biden and his ‘Border Czar’ Vice President Harris have refused to see this crisis for themselves.”
Ouch. Abbott not only continues to properly frame the situation, he also lights up Vice-President Kamala Harris’ ineptitude.
Abbott continues with a nice touch of southern sarcasm stating, “Your recent interest in this historic and preventable crisis is a welcome development.” Abbott then proceeds to invite both Bowser and Adams for a visit, at which point he delivers the coup de grace:
“I look forward to welcoming you the Texas-Mexico border so that you can see this crisis for yourself. Please contact my office to make travel arrangements.”
Bravo, Governor Abbott. Well done, sir.
Will either Adams or Bowser visit Texas’ border? Of course not. Because if they were to go to the border, they’d see that their complaints are being directed at the wrong target. Abbott and Ducey aren’t the problem, Biden and Harris are, along with Democrats like themselves who enable the Administration’s weakness.
