Austin Butler Shows Off His Elvis Presley Impersonations on "The Tonight Show"

Austin Butler is still very much tapped into his Elvis Presley portrayal. On June 15, the 30-year-old actor, who plays the legendary rock 'n' roll star in Baz Luhrmann's cinematic telling of his life story, stopped by "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to discuss all things Presley ahead of his breakout film's release. "You hit a home run with this movie, buddy," Fallon said of Butler's performance. The "Elvis" star - still partially using his Presley accent - called the film "the biggest responsibility I've ever felt," revealing that he leaned into his role as much as he could to bring an authentic depiction of the late singer to life. A fascinated Fallon then asked Butler to show off an example of his Southern Presley accent for the audience, and the actor happily obliged. The "shy" actor also showed some of Presley's dance moves, hilariously teaching Fallon the singer's famous "sidewinder." During his appearance, Butler shared more candid "Elvis" stories with Fallon, opening up about meeting with Presley's ex-wife, Priscilla; imposter syndrome around his role; recording in the same studio as Presley; and how he related to the late singer losing his mother at 23 years old - the same age Butler lost his mom.
